Every kid builds a Caesar cipher wheel and keeps it. That's the only code a Rookie needs. Then: a team code (one piece per kid, decoded together), an experiment on their own body, and a case of eight short clues that ends with a real culprit — and a locked envelope that opens only with the right verdict.

Four cases, four meetings: Why do fingers go wrinkly in the bath? Why do you get dizzy when you spin? Why does your stomach growl? Why do you get goosebumps? Each case has its own experiment — a bowl of warm water and marbles, a spin, a paper cup, an ice cube.

No screens, no props: pencils, scissors, clear tape, brass fasteners, one sheet of card stock per kid, five envelopes. Every clue is six words or fewer — reading practice they'll fight to do.

Patches: leaders buy them the way they always do — a detective or secret-code fun patch from the council shop or a vendor such as Advantage Emblem — and put them in the locked envelope.
