Paper snowflakes with six arms, like real snow: 30 fold-and-cut templates, drawn for scissors. Fold in half, then in thirds, make a few straight snips, and unfold.

WHY THESE ARE DIFFERENT
- Six arms, like real snow. Real snow crystals have six arms because ice is built in rings of six. These templates fold in half and then in thirds (not into eighths), so every snowflake comes out six-fold, like real snow.
- Drawn for scissors. You cut through only six layers, and every cut is a straight snip or a V from an edge, with no turning inside. Easy designs take 4 to 8 snips, Medium 8 to 12, Advanced 14 to 16.
- The whole snowflake is printed on the circle. Fold on the numbered lines and the slice on top shows exactly what to cut. The outlines are printed on the part you cut away, so no lines are left on your snowflake.
- Every design is checked: it opens into one piece, the paper bridges and the cuts are wide enough for its level, and every cut can be reached with scissors in the folded stack.

WHAT'S INSIDE (48 pages)
- 30 snowflake templates on a 7 inch circle (finished snowflakes about 7 inches across), in three levels:
Easy: 4 to 8 snips, big simple shapes (ages 5 and up with a grown-up, who does the cutting)
Medium: 8 to 12 snips, plates, diamonds and notches (ages 8 and up)
Advanced: 14 to 16 snips for a lacy look (ages 11 and up, and grown-ups)
- Each template is inspired by a real kind of snow crystal: stellar and hexagonal plates, sectored plates, stellar and fernlike dendrites, broad-branched crystals
- How to Fold and Cut: six illustrated steps and tips
- Why Every Snowflake Has Six Arms: the science, with pictures
- A Field Guide to Snow Crystals: 11 kinds, from hexagonal plates and needles to twelve-branched and rimed crystals
- The Snowflake Weather Chart: which cloud temperature makes which shape
- The Snowflake Scientists: Wilson Bentley and Ukichiro Nakaya
- Catch a Snowflake: an observation sheet for the next snowfall
- 6 big coloring pages, one snowflake each, with their names
- Design Your Own Snowflake: a blank circle with the fold lines
- Show Them Off: window, garland, 3D snowflake, mobile and gift ideas
