Is anything scary? No. Nobody is hurt. The mystery is a missing cookie recipe. No ghosts, no villains, no blood.
Can the host play too? Yes. The guide never says who did it: the host can play a helper role, and the solution is sealed.
Only four of you? A grown-up can play two suspects. More than ten? Make Detective Teams of 2 to 4.
Someone can't come? Helpers can be dropped. If a suspect can't come, a grown-up takes that page.
