PRINT & PLAY
No cutting, no padlocks, no internet, no video. (One optional QR code on the last page of the Host Guide links to a free bonus checklist; the game is complete without it.) Print only the level you play (12 to 17 sheets), stack the pages in 3 piles, start the timer. Setup takes 5 to 10 minutes.

HOW IT WORKS
- Solve a puzzle, write the answer on the strip at the bottom of the page.
- Copy it onto your level's board: the Lock Board, the Compass Board or the Vault Grid.
- The full board opens the final code. The answers check themselves: a real word, a letter that must be N, E, S or W, a magic square where every line adds up to 15.
- Stuck? The host reads Hint 1, then Hint 2, then Hint 3, each on its own page.

THE 3 LEVELS
Level 1 - The Toy Cabinet (ages 6-9): 9 puzzles, about 45 minutes. Count, find, match: gifts, stockings, a maze, picture math, spot the difference, a mini sudoku, a clock. Big 16 pt type, reading help welcome.
Level 2 - The Land of Sweets (ages 10-14): 10 puzzles, about 60 minutes. Real codes: a shift cipher, Morse bells, a pigpen letter, a logic grid, a picture grid, a word hunt, scales, a boat timetable, then a map to walk.
Level 3 - The Clockwork Vault (adults and older teens): 10 puzzles, 60 to 75 minutes. A ledger with one wrong total, a gear train, Braille in the frost, a keyword cipher, a 5-dancer logic line, an advent calendar, a mirror clock, and a final riddle. The host can play: the guide never gives away a Level 3 answer.

THE STORY
Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum house. Godfather Drosselmeyer has just given Clara a wooden Nutcracker. At midnight the toys wake up, and the seven-headed Mouse King locks the three doors of the great toy cabinet: the Toy Cabinet, the Land of Sweets and the Clockwork Vault. Drosselmeyer hid every code inside puzzles. Open your door before the clock strikes one. (Based on the public-domain tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann, 1816, and Tchaikovsky's ballet, 1892.)

FAQ
Do we need internet or an app? No. Everything is inside your PDFs. The only QR code is an optional bonus on the last page of the guide.
What if the kids get stuck? Every puzzle has 3 graded hints on separate pages. Hint 1 never spoils Hint 3.
Mixed ages at the same party? Run two or three levels at once: each level has its own code.
Can the host play? Yes for Level 3. For Levels 1 and 2, a grown-up hosts and reads the hints.
