Here’s a beautifully finished 2026 Peterson Barley Spigot System, Hallmarked with all Sterling Silver. This is one good looking pipe and the Barley series comes in periodically and can be hard to get so it’s always welcome when I find one, especially like this Billiard. Along with their shaping, Peterson is renowned for their silverwork and there are few pipes that display that better than their silver spigot pipes.

Peterson states the briar for these pipes are each hand selected!

Left unwaxed, the natural finish on these pipes will form a patina with handling and use as many enjoy watching the process.

The pipe is in excellent condition being made this year, it was smoked just a small bit. There’s some minor inner rim darkening and otherwise great shape.

Peterson Site on Barley Spigots:
Like any other wood or organic material, briar often presents a certain degree of color variation and natural flaws. For our new Barley Spigot line, however, we wanted to showcase the natural color and texture of virgin, sandblasted briar with as few of these natural imperfections as possible. All the bowls for this series were hand-selected at our factory for their cleanliness and consistency, resulting in a true tanblast that reveals the wood's natural patterns in crisp relief without any additional staining. Given their virgin finishes, these pipes will continue to darken and patinate over time, and are further elevated by our handcrafted sterling silver bubble spigots.

ON THE X105 SHAPE:

“The "106," "107," and "X105" are all robust variations of the straight Billiard from Peterson. While each one showcases the Irish marque's conventional robustness at the shank and transition, this "X105" trims down that aesthetic just a tad by comparison, presenting a more traditionally English style. That said, it still offers more substance than, say, the "06" or "15" iterations. Such a diverse portfolio of classic shapes allows Peterson to cater to all preferences of length, chamber depth, and weight — with the "X105" finding a perfect balance between extremes.”

PACKAGING:
I’m sure I take more time than almost everyone in packaging and I do not spare any expense. Each pipe takes me 10-15 minutes to pack. I’ve yet to hear of any pipe arrive damaged. With few exceptions, my pipes are always shipped as one piece. It requires larger boxes and more materials but the most famous pipe makers insist it’s better during shipping for climate acclimation and not having pipes apart for too long.

» You get what you pay for.
At a minimum, I do everything possible to make sure the pipe is at its best and packaged well. All pipes are carefully inspected, cleaned, gently buffed, waxed with Carnauba and the stems are hand polished and oiled as needed. For a decade, I’ve put all I have into these pipes, packaging and more. I really enjoy it and my fellow hobbyists.

Pipes are almost always shipped as one piece. This is far better for the pipe, particularly with climate changes during shipping.
