Bayside Blue, orange city light and a wet night expressway give the artwork presence across a room. The Skyline GT-R, headlamps on and pin-sharp against the motion blur, invites a closer look. Above a desk or in a garage lounge, it's a conversation piece for anyone who knows what that name means.

The subject is the 1999 Skyline GT-R V-spec, the BNR34, in Bayside Blue at night on Tokyo's Wangan expressway. Its RB26DETT 2.6-litre twin-turbo straight-six was officially rated at 280 PS, with ATTESA E-TS Pro four-wheel drive. The R34 was the last GT-R to carry the Skyline name.

Every car was a drawing before it was a car. We start with the finished car and draw it back to that first decision, until the proportion is honest and the stance is right and you would know it from across the room without a badge.
