Highlights
A tiny piece of Belle Époque Paris for your refrigerator, magnetic board or workspace.
This handmade mosaic magnet features a reproduction of “Moulin Rouge – La Goulue,” the 1891 poster by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. It was his first poster, made to advertise the famous Montmartre dance hall, and it made him an overnight sensation.
At its center is La Goulue, the Moulin Rouge’s star cancan dancer, kicking up her skirts. In the foreground, her dance partner Valentin le Désossé (“the boneless one”) appears as a dramatic silhouette, and the crowd behind them is a row of black shadows. The warm yellow, red and black artwork is framed with individually cut glass mosaic tiles in soft coordinating colors for a wonderfully eclectic old-Paris feel.
Each magnet is handmade, so the glass placement, grout and finish vary slightly from piece to piece.
