Marram grass stands in silhouette against a flat, overcast sky — a horizontal composition built on restraint, with almost nothing else in frame. Dune Grass, Grey Sky is the plainest piece in Collection No. 1, and that plainness is deliberate: a study in how little a composition needs once the palette and the light are right. It sits well above a sideboard or a headboard, somewhere it can hold a room's quiet rather than compete for the eye.
