A Dune art print of the sandworm rising to swallow a spice harvester on Arrakis, in the style of a Japanese woodblock.

The moment the desert opens its mouth.

THE SCENE
A spice harvester is still working on the open sand when the wormsign comes, and the worm rises and takes the whole machine. It is from Book One of Frank Herbert's Dune (1965), the first real look at what lives under the sand of Arrakis. Of every scene in the book, this is the one I most wanted to see on a wall. My favourite detail is the two tiny cloaked figures on the far dune, just watching.

THE STYLE
I gave it the look of a Japanese colour woodblock print: crisp keyed outlines, flat colour with the grain of the wood showing through, and a soft blue sky fading into a cream paper margin. A world this vast seemed to need that calm, careful style to hold it.

THE INSPIRATION
My reference was a Japanese colour woodblock print from the 1830s, from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's open-access collection. I borrowed its printing look only, not its subject. Woodblock artists of that time loved huge landscapes with tiny people in them, and that sense of scale is exactly what Arrakis needed.

HOW IT'S MADE
An inspired-by print, not taken from any film. I create each scene with AI image tools, then art-direct and refine it until it feels right. It isn't a hand-cut woodblock or an original print. Each one carries my printed "Chapter & Scene" signature in the margin.

SIZES AND FRAMES
A4 or A3, unframed or framed. Every print is made to order on heavyweight 200gsm+ archival matte paper at full print quality (300 DPI). Frames are slim pine, in black, white or natural oak, with shatter-resistant plexiglass and no mount, so the print's own cream margin is the border. Framed prints arrive ready to hang. Free delivery to the UK and US.

Coming soon: its pair, "Into the Storm", the desert's other great danger.
