Pier Nine handled everything from bananas to pianos, and nobody asked many questions. On a foggy night in October 1971, Nesta, the warehouse manager, was found among the crates. Seven workers were on the night shift. The case went cold within a month, and the warehouse was pulled down in 1980. Only the file survived.
