Lamia Print, John William Waterhouse 1905 Pre Raphaelite Wall Art, Keats Knight Painting Poster

A knight meets a woman in the woods. She has shed her snakeskin. It still lies around her.

ABOUT THE PAINTING
John William Waterhouse painted Lamia in 1905, from Keats's 1820 poem about a serpent who takes the form of a woman to win a man's love. Waterhouse leaves the snakeskin in plain sight. The knight does not see it.

Keats drew the story from ancient Greek legend. Waterhouse painted Lamia twice. This 1905 version belongs to a private collection.

THE LOOK
Soft greens, silver armour and the shimmer of the snakeskin. Romantic, tender and quietly dangerous. Pre Raphaelite wall art suited to a dark academia reading room or study.

THE PRINT
A fine art reproduction of the original painting on 240gsm matte paper. Rich colour, no glare.

Sizes: A5, A4, A3, A2, A1, plus 12x16, 18x24 and 24x36 inches. Custom sizes on request. Frames: black, white or oak, or unframed.

Printed locally in the UK, Europe, the US, Canada and Australia, at the location closest to you. Free tracked shipping, no customs fees.

Please note: each print is reproduced from a museum photograph of the original painting. Larger sizes show the canvas weave, brushwork and age cracks up close, details not visible in these photos or smaller prints. Like the painting itself, it is best viewed from a short distance.
