This interview prep tracker is the Interview prep tab from my Job Search Command Center, pulled out on its own and given room for ten stories and 200 interviews. You write each story once in the bank, as a situation, an action, and a result, and on each interview row you pick the stories you plan to tell from a dropdown. A Next step column shows whether an interview needs prep, a thank-you note, or a follow-up. It works in Google Sheets and in Excel, and you get both.

WHAT'S ON THE TAB

- Five tiles at the top: days until your next interview, interviews coming up, thank-you notes to send, interviews waiting on an answer, and stories ready.
- A story bank with room for ten stories. Story, situation, action, result, and what to use it for are yours to type. Times used calculates.
- An interview log with room for 200 rows. Date, time, company, role, format, interviewers, questions to ask, two stories, research notes, thank-you sent, and outcome are yours to type. Days until and next step calculate.
- Upcoming interviews turn moss, and rows that need a thank-you or a follow-up turn plum.
- Dropdowns for the format (Phone, Video, On site, Take-home, Panel) and the outcome (Advanced, Offer, Rejected, Withdrawn, No answer).
- One setting: the days before an interview with no outcome is flagged for a follow-up. It starts at 10.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Buy, then download the files from Purchases and reviews on the Etsy website. Downloads don't work in the Etsy app, so use a browser.
2. Google Sheets: open the link in the PDF and choose Make a copy. Excel: open the .xlsx file.
3. Type over the three sample stories and the nine sample interviews, and the tiles update as you go.

WHAT YOU NEED

A free Google account for the Sheets version, or Excel 2016 or later for the Excel version, and a laptop or desktop screen.

Anyone with interviews on the calendar who wants the questions, the stories, and the follow-ups for each one in one place. My Job Search Command Center in this shop has a smaller version of this tab beside the pipeline, the contacts, the offers, and a dashboard.

QUESTIONS

Does it come with interview questions or answers? No. The questions and the stories are yours to write.
Does the story bank follow the STAR method? Each story has a situation, an action, and a result. The task fits in the Situation cell.
Can I change the formulas? Yes, every cell is editable.
Does it work on a phone? It opens, but it's built for a laptop or desktop.
Can I add more rows? Yes. The log holds 200, and you can add more by inserting rows inside the tinted area and copying a formula row down.
What if a file doesn't work? Message me and I'll fix it the same day.
