Seller's description

Specifications

Rectangular altar frontal cloth with cream background featuring a repeating pattern of gold crosses and ornamental designs, bordered in burgundy, with a centered band reading 'GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO' in gold lettering

A large Christmas altar cloth in white and gold, the liturgical colour of the season, 58 by 102 inches and printed with a brocade pattern of gold crosses pattée in beaded roundels, with small fleurs between, with a gold border all round. It covers the whole top of a home altar or console about five to six feet long and hangs at the front and back, and across the front drop the Latin "GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO" — Glory to God in the highest — runs in large gold capitals between crosses, like the frontal of a parish altar.

Lay it from Christmas Eve through the Baptism of the Lord. The brocade is printed, not woven: a pattern drawn in the manner of a church brocade and printed crisp on smooth fabric. It is not silk.
