This year, the present isn't simply under the tree – it's hidden. And a trail of clue cards leads your child from hiding place to hiding place: from the Christmas tree to the refrigerator, from the boot to the bathtub, until they finally stand before their present.

The printable Christmas treasure hunt: Each card describes the location of the next card. Three ready-made trails for three age groups are included in one download – from a picture trail for three-year-olds to tricky puzzles with secret codes for teenagers (and for adults who pretend they're too old for it). ★ THE THREE VERSIONS
• For younger children (3–6): Each card shows the next hiding place as a picture – a red arrow points exactly to the correct spot. A short sentence to read aloud accompanies the card. No reading is required.
• For children (6–10): Four rhyming lines describe the hiding place without naming it. Those who can already read can solve it on their own.
• For older children (11 and up): Tricky puzzles with a wink and five mini-codes to crack – letter reversal, backwards, mirror writing, number code and grid code. All solutions with explanations are in the booklet.

2. Hide the cards with the finished table – preferably backwards, starting from the gift.

Each clue was traced using a script in the finished PDF: Each card is located exactly where the previous card describes it – in both the long and short routes – no hiding place is repeated, and both routes end at the gift. Each rhyme has four lines, each code was decoded from the PDF, and no text runs out of bounds from its corresponding card.
