Highlights

40 fill-in-the-blank lyric clues from 20 traditional carols and seasonal songs, mostly Christian. A Christmas Finish the Lyrics game for carol-loving families, church groups and senior gatherings. No modern Christmas hits.

WHO WILL ENJOY IT?
Familiarity with traditional carols matters more than age. Younger children may enjoy playing with an adult teammate. Let children try each clue first, then confer and take turns writing. RECOMMENDED FAMILY OPTION: Round 1 only, 20 familiar opening-stanza clues, 20 possible points, about 5 minutes. Round 2 is an optional harder bonus of 20 deeper-verse and chorus clues, about 7 minutes. Play both for the full 40-point challenge. These are suggested times; announce a longer limit before play if needed.

WHAT YOU GET
Five PDFs, each under 20 MB:
- US Letter color game, 8 pages
- A4 color game, 8 pages
- US Letter white low-ink game, 8 pages
- A4 white low-ink game, 8 pages
- Separate host guide and answer key, 10 pages: 5 US Letter pages followed by 5 A4 pages

Each game PDF contains the same 40 clues in three formats: pages 1-2 standard print (20 lines per round); pages 3-6 18pt large print (10 lines per page); pages 7-8 compact 5x7 cards, two cards per round on each landscape sheet, 10 clues per card. A complete compact set has four cards for both rounds. Give one chosen-format answer set to each team, or to each solo player. This is 40 lyric lines from 20 carols, not 40 different songs. The key lists accepted wording variants and uses 18pt answers.

HOW TO PLAY
Choose Round 1 only for the recommended 20-item family game, or add optional harder Round 2. Suggested limits: 5 minutes for Round 1 and 7 minutes for Round 2; announce any longer limit before starting. Each team uses one chosen-format answer set and one pen; solo players use one set and pen each. The host needs a timer and the separate key. Children try clues before conferring with adult teammates. Read clues aloud if helpful; singing is optional. At time, call pencils down and collect one final answer set per team (or solo player) for each round. Keep the key hidden until all chosen rounds are finished. Award one point only for the complete keyed phrase or a listed variant: no partial points or meaning-only paraphrases. Ignore extra correct lyrics after the required phrase. Accept recognizable spelling, capitalization, punctuation and hyphen differences. Mark together after all rounds; highest total wins and tied teams share the win. Round 1 is worth 20 points; both rounds are worth 40.

GOOD TO KNOW
- Digital download only; no physical item is shipped. Pens and printing are not included.
- Choose US Letter or A4 to match your paper. Compact cards print on landscape sheets and need cutting. The 18pt edition is for the full-page player clues; compact cards use smaller type.
- Download using Etsy in a web browser, under Your account > Purchases. The Etsy app cannot download digital files.
- Print copies for your own event, classroom, church or group. Please do not resell or redistribute our designed files. The historic carol words themselves are public domain in the United States; all used texts are documented in dated hymnals or scores published by 1922.

Content selection, game layout and listing materials were made with AI-assisted tools. Illustrations reuse our existing AI-assisted nativity line art (shepherds and angel, wise men, stable, star, angel) and holly painting. Color pages are framed carol-book sheets with an evergreen illustrated plate; low-ink pages print the same scenes as dark line art on white. No physical print test or live group trial is claimed.
