Sun Models Sunspots and Star Properties Worksheets, Florida 8th Grade Science Test Review, SC.8.E.5.6 SC.8.E.5.5

Models of the Sun scored just 36% correct on the 2024 Florida Grade 8 Statewide Science Assessment release, the 2nd lowest of all 45 released items. This one-benchmark Knowledge Check covers the whole tested group, so students are ready for any item in it:

- Part 1, Learn It (8th grade), SC.8.E.5.6: layers of the Sun (core, radiative zone, convection zone, photosphere, corona), convection, rotation, sunspots, solar flares, and prominences, with a labeled cutaway diagram.
- Part 2, Revisit It (8th grade parent), SC.8.E.5.5: apparent vs. absolute brightness, color and temperature, size, and light-years. Practiced the way the test asks it, with star data tables and "which conclusion is best supported" questions.

Note: in the official grouping, SC.8.E.5.6 is assessed with its 8th grade parent SC.8.E.5.5. No 6th or 7th grade benchmark is in this group.
