THE STORY BEHIND IT
Alphonse Mucha's 1895 theater poster for a Paris play made him famous almost overnight, and Parisians were said to peel copies off the walls to take home.

Great for graphic designers, illustrators, art teachers, art students and poster collectors. A fun gift for the designer whose first big project went everywhere.

Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), a Czech artist working in Paris, became famous almost overnight after a theater poster he designed in the mid-1890s appeared on the city's walls. This chibi Alphonse Mucha has his pencil and a blank sheet ready for the next commission. The watercolor-style illustration has cream, warm brown and charcoal.
