Crochet Pricing Calculator for Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets: an instant-download spreadsheet that shows your suggested price, the price for each piece and what you really earn per hour at the top of the sheet. It adds up your yarn, stuffing and other materials, packaging, a share of the pattern you bought, your hours at the hourly pay you choose, overhead, selling fees and a profit margin.

Made for crochet makers who sell on Etsy, at craft fairs or to friends in the US. Works in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets on a computer.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Cost yarn the way you measure it: yards, meters, grams, ounces or whole skeins. Type the price, yards and weight from the yarn label once. Weigh a finished piece on a kitchen scale, type the grams, and only the part of the skein you used is charged.
- Save the pieces you make again and again: an amigurumi, a beanie, a throw blanket. Cost the yarn, materials and hours of one piece once, then pick it and how many.
- Cost every extra: safety eyes, stuffing, floss, buttons, labels and keychain rings. Buy fiberfill by the pound, use it by the ounce - the calculator converts it.
- Share the pattern price: spread what you paid for a pattern over the pieces you expect to make from it.
- See what your time earns: your pay plus profit per hour, right next to the price.
- Set your selling fees: the example is Etsy US fees, and you can change them for any shop, or set 0% for cash at a craft fair.
- See how the price is built: materials, packaging, pattern share, your pay, overhead, fees and profit, line by line.
- Quote the whole order: shipping, sales tax, deposit now and balance later. Shipping and sales tax are kept apart from your profit, and the selling fees on them are counted too.
- Send a customer quote: a one-page quote with your shop name, the price, deposit and balance, ready to print or save as PDF.
- Charge for custom work: add an optional rush fee or design fee, and the price includes it.
- Check wholesale: see whether half of your price (without rush or design fees) would still cover your costs and your pay - a plain Yes or No, before a shop asks for a wholesale price.
- Keep your quotes: copy each one into the Price List, then add the price you actually charged to see your profit before fees.
- Catch typing slips before you quote: a missing number, a letter, a zero or an amount far too large turns red, and the price appears once it is fixed. Once you pick the yarn weight for a yarn, a skein weight in ounces where the label meant grams turns orange (a yarn with a skein weight but no yarn weight picked stays orange until you pick one). Hours typed as a time (1:30 or 12:00) or a fraction (1/2), or an hourly pay under $1, turn red too, and a very high hourly rate turns orange, so you can double-check.
- Look up yarn weights: the Yarn Weights tab lists each yarn weight number, from Lace to Jumbo, with crochet gauge and hook sizes in mm and US.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
- One spreadsheet file (.xlsx) for Excel, plus a PDF with your link to make your own copy in Google Sheets. Tabs: Start Here, Yarn, Materials, Projects, Crochet Calculator, Customer Quote, Price List, Yarn Weights, Notes, Units.
- Example yarn, materials and projects already filled in, so you see a finished price before you type anything. Replace the example prices with your own.
- Yellow cells are the only cells you fill in. In Excel, formula cells are locked to keep them safe from accidental edits; in your Google Sheets copy, typing over a formula shows a warning first.

HOW TO USE IT
1. Yarn and Materials: type what you paid, with the yards and weight from the yarn label.
2. Projects (optional): save the pieces you make often - the yarn, materials and hours of one piece.
3. Crochet Calculator: pick your projects or list the yarn used, add packaging, your hours and hourly pay. Your price, price each and what you earn per hour appear at the top.

FAQ
How much should I charge for crochet items?
Enough to cover yarn, materials, packaging, your hours at a fair hourly rate, overhead and selling fees, plus a profit margin. Enter those here and you get the suggested price, the price for each piece and what you earn per hour.

How do I price a crochet blanket or a big piece?
Count the hours. A blanket can take days, so your hours times your hourly pay is usually the biggest part of the price. Rules like "materials x 3" leave the hours out; here they are part of the cost.

How do I work out the yarn cost when I used only part of a skein?
Weigh the finished piece (without stuffing) or the ball before and after, and type the grams. Or type the yards. The calculator charges only that share of the skein. To charge for whole skeins instead, type the amount in skeins.

Does it include the pattern I bought and my Etsy fees?
Yes. The pattern price is shared over the pieces you expect to make from it. Selling fees start at the Etsy US example rates, and you can change them to match your shop.

Can I set my own shipping, sales tax and deposit?
Yes. Shipping, the sales tax rate, the deposit percent and rounding are all yours to set, and you choose whether sales tax applies to shipping.

Can I add a rush fee or a design fee for a custom order?
Yes. Type them in the optional rush fee and design fee cells. They are added on top of the price, and the selling fee on them is covered.

Can I send my customer a quote?
Yes. The Customer Quote tab turns the order you priced into a one-page quote: type your shop name and the customer's name once, and it lists the item, how many pieces and the price each, the saved projects in the order, any rush or design work it includes, shipping, sales tax, the total, the deposit due now and the balance, with a needed-by date, a valid-until date and your terms. It shows your customer's prices only, never your costs or profit. Print it or save it as PDF (in Google Sheets, select the quote first, then File > Print > Selected cells).

Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Your download includes a PDF with a link: click it and Google Sheets makes your own copy, no upload needed. In my checks, with the same numbers typed in, every price and check gave the same result in Google Sheets as in Excel, and the dropdown lists and the red and orange checks carry over. In Google Sheets, fill only the yellow cells and type hours as decimals, such as 1.5 for 1 hour 30 minutes.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD
After you buy, open etsy.com in a web browser (computer recommended), go to Purchases and reviews, and click Download Files. Digital files cannot be downloaded in the Etsy app.
- Microsoft Excel: open the .xlsx file in Excel on a computer.
- Google Sheets: open the PDF in your download, click Make my copy in Google Sheets, then click Make a copy. The copy is saved in your Google Drive. A free Google account is enough. (You can also upload the .xlsx at drive.google.com: New > File upload, then right-click it > Open with > Google Sheets.)

LIMITATIONS
- Instant digital download. Nothing is shipped.
- Needs Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets on a computer.
- Made in Microsoft Excel and checked in Google Sheets.
- Not tested in Excel on the web, Excel for Mac, Numbers or the Google Sheets phone app.
- In Google Sheets, formula cells are not locked as they are in Excel. The copy from your link warns you before you type over a formula; an uploaded .xlsx does not, so fill only the yellow cells.
- In Google Sheets, today's date follows the spreadsheet's time zone.
- US dollars. Yarn in yards, meters, grams, ounces or skeins; materials in US or metric units.
- Prices one order at a time. It is a pricing tool, not an order tracker, yarn stash tracker or bookkeeping file.
- Yarn cost uses the yards and weight on your own yarn label; the calculator does not guess them from the yarn weight.
- Selling fees and tax rates in the file are examples (Etsy US fees as published in Oct 2026; Offsite Ads and currency conversion not included). Check your own shop and your local sales tax rate.
- For use in your own business. Please do not resell or share the file.
- The Yarn Weights tab follows the Craft Yarn Council's Standard Yarn Weight System. This product is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Craft Yarn Council.
- Because this is a digital download, returns and exchanges are not accepted. If anything does not work as described, send me a message on Etsy and I will help.

This spreadsheet was designed by CraftCostSheets and built with the help of AI tools, then checked in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
