Turn a loved one's clothes into a bear to hold onto. A baby's first sleepsuit, a grandfather's shirts or a favorite jumper become a soft keepsake teddy, sewn by you.

This is a digital PDF sewing pattern - instant download, nothing is shipped.

WHAT YOU GET
• 16-page PDF pattern
• 6 full-size pattern sheets: print at 100% on A4 paper and tape together, with a 10 cm test square and a sheet map
• 9 pattern pieces with the 0.7 cm seam allowance included, notches, grain lines and placement marks for the eyes, nose, ears, arms and legs
• 18 illustrated steps, each with a clear diagram and a photo
• A page explaining how the pieces fit together, and how to make a bigger or smaller bear

FINISHED SIZE
About 36 cm (14") standing and 26 cm (10") sitting. Print at 125% for a 45 cm (18") bear, or at 80% for a 29 cm (11") bear.

ABOUT THE BEAR
• Soft and unjointed: the arms and legs are sewn into the seams, so it bends a little and sits up on its own
• A muzzle strip in a contrasting cloth - perfect for a tie, a cuff or a special print
• Lightly stuffed ears and darted hips for a nice round shape
• Every seam is drafted to match its partner exactly, so the notches meet

YOU WILL NEED
• About 50 x 110 cm of cloth in all: a baby sleepsuit (6-12 months), two adult shirts or the front and back of a jumper
• Contrast cloth for the muzzle, inner ears and soles: 25 x 30 cm
• 250 g of polyester stuffing
• 2 safety eyes (12 mm) and 1 safety nose (about 18 mm)
• 70 cm of ribbon for the bow, thread, pins, an awl and a fabric pen
• Light fuse interfacing if your cloth is thin or stretchy

SKILL LEVEL
Easy-intermediate: curves, a set-in sole and a little hand sewing to close up.

GOOD TO KNOW
• For a baby or toddler, embroider the eyes and nose instead of using safety parts.
• Make one bear from each child's or grandchild's clothes for a family set.
• Measurements are metric, with inches given for the finished size.
