Walnut by the board foot, the offcuts and knots you cut away, glue, finish, sandpaper, the blades and machines that wear a little every hour, and the hours of milling, sanding and finishing: it all adds up. This calculator counts all of it and gives you a cost per piece and a suggested price for the profit margin you want.

HOW IT WORKS
- Materials: type your supplies once as you bought them (lumber per board foot, a 5 x 5 ft plywood sheet in sq ft, glue in fl oz, finish in ml or oz, sanding discs, hardware). The cost per unit is worked out for you.
- Cut list: one line per part. Pick the board, type thickness, width, length and pieces. Board feet and lumber cost fill in. Add a waste % for knots, defects and offcuts.
- Shop cost per machine hour from what your tools cost and how many hours they last, power draw incl. dust collection, electricity price, and blades, bits and abrasives.
- Add glue, finish, sandpaper and hardware, packaging and your hours for each step from design to packing.
- Read the suggested price, then type your own price to see fees, profit, margin, earned per hour and the wholesale check.
