This cookbook was a 1956 wedding gift to my mother. She's gone now — but her recipes aren't.

Volume 15 gathers the drinks and pantry staples that ran quietly underneath everything else in a 1956 Bavarian kitchen. It starts with real bean coffee brewed by the gram, cocoa, and proper drinking chocolate, then the winter drinks — Glühwein and a hot grog with rum or arrack. From there it turns to the pantry: a homemade mustard left to mellow for weeks in a stoneware crock, a fresh quark spread, herb butter, mustard butter, and the book's master method for clarified butter (Butterschmalz).

The recipes themselves are not AI-written: every one is my family's own 1956 original from my mother's copy of the book, with its original recipe number, translated and adapted with US measurements.

Each of the ten recipes includes:
— The original German name and recipe number from the Bayerisches Kochbuch
— Two headnote paragraphs connecting the dish to its time and place and to my mother's kitchen
— A historical note on the original recipe and its place in mid-century German cooking
— Ingredients in US measurements (cups, tbsp, oz, lbs) with metric equivalents
— A clear, step-by-step method
— A "week with this" grid — five days built around each recipe, so nothing goes to waste
