Seller's description

Specifications

You do not delay everything. You delay some things — and fly at others.

That is how The Anatomy of Procrastination opens, because it is the clue most procrastination advice ignores. If you were simply lazy, everything would wait. It doesn't. Specific things wait — the form, the call, the first page, the conversation — while other things get done instantly. This book treats that pattern as what it is: a diagnosis waiting to be read. Procrastination is not one problem. It has causes — twelve of them — and each cause has a different way out.

The system is called The Procrastination Prescription, and it runs in four moves. SPOT — catch the delay while it is happening and write it on your Putting-Off List. DIAGNOSE — which of the twelve causes is running this one? MATCH — apply that cause's counter-move from the cause→move table. MOVE — the smallest version, now, written as an if–then sentence. Then examine again, and loop. No generic "just start" advice: a fuzzy-steps delay and a guilt-and-shame delay look identical from the outside and need opposite handling — this book teaches you to tell them apart and treats each one accordingly.

The twelve causes, each with its matched move: Unawareness → Spot It · The Oversized Frog → Shrink It · Incomplete Information → Fill the Gaps · Fuzzy Steps → Map It · Anxiety & Discomfort → Soothe or Delegate · Impossible Expectations → Lower the Bar · Inadequacy → Start Good Enough · Guilt & Shame → Do It or Let It Go · Chronic Worry → Unlink the Worry · Fearing the Outcome → Shrink the Fear · Anger & Shutdown → Process and Release · Overwhelm → Say No, Do Less.

Every chapter is complete in itself: Harish's essay in his own words, with a verified featured quote; an In Real Life story — documented, source-checked accounts of delay and escape, from Darwin's twenty-one years of sitting on his theory and Victor Hugo's locked-away clothes to Douglas Adams writing locked in a hotel room with his editor; Action Tips; a Try This Today exercise; and Reflections to turn the chapter onto your own list. Twelve "What the Research Actually Says" boxes bring in the actual science where it belongs — Piers Steel's motivation equation, the planning fallacy, if–then planning, self-compassion and self-forgiveness research, and the meta-analysis of what interventions genuinely work — with references at the end of every chapter. (One famous deadline study you may have heard of is deliberately not cited: it has been retracted.)

The book closes with The Examination: fifteen questions to bust through inaction, and the 12-Cause Diagnostic that turns your answers into a prescription. Then the Printable Workbook puts the whole method on paper — five worksheets, including the complete cause→move table on a single page, ready to print and run every week.

Name the cause. Match the move. And start today.
