Backyard Birds of Texas Poster Print, Identification Chart with Latin Names, Wall Art

Backyard Birds of Texas is a chart of 16 birds you can see from a kitchen window in Texas, laid out like a vintage field guide: each bird drawn in a matching style, with its common name and its scientific name in italics. It includes the Texas state bird, the Northern Mockingbird.

THE 16 BIRDS
Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos), Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata), American Robin (Turdus migratorius), Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus forficatus), Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus), Ladder-backed Woodpecker (Dryobates scalaris), White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica), American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis), Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus), Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura), House Finch (Haemorhous mexicanus), Painted Bunting (Passerina ciris), Great-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus mexicanus), Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris).

Texas is big, and a few of these birds are seasonal: the Painted Bunting, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher and Ruby-throated Hummingbird are spring and summer birds, and the American Goldfinch is mostly a winter visitor.

Before printing, we checked every species against eBird county records and range maps for Texas. The illustrations are stylized, so for a tricky bird keep a field guide or the Merlin app handy.
