WHAT THE 2026-27 FIGURE IS (checked 2026-11-04)
3% allowable annual increase for July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 (City of Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance, per LAHD). Since the Council File 23-1134 change the RSO formula is 90% of CPI with a 1% floor and a 4% cap (effective February 2, 2026, per LAHD). Removal of the +1% gas and +1% electric add-ons is pending final Council approval as of the 2026-11-04 LAHD read; check LAHD before relying on it. This file does not add them. WHO IT IS FOR
Small landlords with a rent-stabilized (RSO) unit in the City of Los Angeles.

WHAT IS INCLUDED
- Excel workbook with EXAMPLE DATA filled in so you can see every tab working, plus a blank copy with the same formulas
- Inputs tab: current rent, last increase date, notice date, personal or mail delivery
- Calc tab: allowed %, highest new rent, dollar increase, earliest effective date (the later of last increase + 12 months and notice date + 30 days, +5 if mailed), and a warning if the date falls outside the 2026-27 rate year.
- Notice Letter tab: a plain-language rent-increase notice that fills itself from the numbers, with a reminder to confirm the unit's RSO registration is current.
- Rates tab: the figure, the period, the source link, a "checked 2026-11-04" date and a "recheck by 2027-06-01" date. Every formula pulls the rate from here

EXAMPLE DATA
Rent $2,150, last increase 12/10/2025, notice mailed Monday 11/16/2026. Highest new rent $2,214.50 (+$64.50). Mail adds 5 days, so the earliest effective date is 12/21/2026. All names and addresses in the example file are made up. Replace the blue cells with your own.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
Covers RSO units in the City of Los Angeles only. It does not cover unincorporated LA County (see the separate LA County RSTPO sheet) or mobilehomes. It does not decide whether your unit is covered, serve the notice or file anything.

UPDATED EACH JULY
Rent-increase figures reset every year on July 1. This file is for the 2026-27 rate year (7/1/2026-6/30/2027). A new file is made each July.
