Bowtie Family Tree Template, Editable Couples Ancestor Chart

ONE COUPLE IN THE MIDDLE, BOTH FAMILIES FANNING OUT ON EITHER SIDE.

A bowtie family tree puts a couple at the center of the page. The husband's parents, grandparents and great-grandparents branch out to the left, and the wife's branch out to the right, so the chart shows both families coming together in one marriage. Type your family into the included Bowtie Family Tree Maker and it lays out the whole chart for you and resizes it to fit the page. Or print a blank chart and handwrite it.

WHAT YOU GET (instant download)
- Bowtie Family Tree Maker (works offline in any web browser, nothing to install): type the couple, choose how far back to go (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents or 2nd great-grandparents, up to 60 ancestors), pick paper size, landscape or portrait and color style, then Print / Save as PDF.
- Optional marriage line above the couple (for example "Married June 6, 1946") and up to 12 children in a row underneath.
- Leave any ancestor box empty and it prints with a small label (Grandmother, Great-grandfather and so on) to handwrite later.
- 20 blank charts to print and handwrite, with a small label and writing lines in every box: a Great-Grandparents chart (28 ancestors, the couple and 6 children) for every size, and a 2nd Great-Grandparents chart (60 ancestors) for 11x17 / A3 and larger.
- 2 color styles: Heirloom (warm parchment) and Sage (soft green).
- 6 sizes: 8.5x11, 11x17, 18x24 inches, and A4, A3, A2.
- An example family file and a Start Here guide.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Download and unzip.
2. Open Bowtie_Family_Tree_Maker.html in your web browser (the Start Here guide shows how, step by step). Type the couple and each side's ancestors.
3. Click Print / Save as PDF. Choose the same paper size and orientation, Margins: None, Scale: 100%. Print at home or send the PDF to any print shop.
Your entries save in your browser, and you can save them to a file to finish later. Nothing is uploaded, so your family's details stay on your computer.

WHICH SIZE?
- Up to great-grandparents: any size
- 2nd great-grandparents: 11x17 or A3 and up
- The Maker tells you if names are printing small.

GREAT FOR
A wedding or anniversary gift, a Christmas gift for parents or grandparents, a keepsake showing where both sides of a family came from, or a family reunion display.

GOOD TO KNOW
- The Maker is easiest on a laptop or desktop computer.
- Works for any couple: the first person goes on the left, the second on the right. Accented names (é, ñ, ö and so on) are fine.
- The frame is not included. Colors vary slightly by printer and paper.

HOW THIS WAS MADE
Designed by Front Porch Puzzle Press. The chart layouts, the Bowtie Family Tree Maker and the blank charts were built with custom code that I wrote with help from an AI coding assistant. No AI image generator was used. The names in the photos belong to a made-up example family.
