Patriot Line of Descent Chart, Editable Revolutionary War Ancestor Lineage Kit

FROM YOUR REVOLUTIONARY WAR PATRIOT, GENERATION BY GENERATION, DOWN TO YOU.

A line of descent shows one straight line through your family: the patriot of the American Revolution at the top, then his or her child, that child's child, and so on to the present. Type your line into the included Line of Descent Maker and it lays out a framable heritage chart in an 18th-century style, sized to your paper. Each generation shows the person's name, birth and death dates and places, spouse, and marriage date and place. The patriot's box adds a service line, for example "Private, Connecticut Militia".

Researching the line too? The kit includes fillable Lineage Research Worksheets to track the proof for every generation, helpful when preparing a lineage society application.

WHAT YOU GET (instant download)
- Patriot Line of Descent Maker (works offline in any web browser, nothing to install): up to 14 generations, title, subtitle and footer (for example "Compiled by ..., 2026"), 2 color styles, 1, 2 or 3 columns, portrait or landscape, then Print / Save as PDF. The layout resizes itself to keep the text as large as possible.
- Leave anything you don't know empty: it simply isn't printed, and a completely empty generation prints with writing lines to fill in by hand.
- 18 blank charts to print and handwrite: 9 generations (8x10, Letter, A4) and 12 generations (11x14, 11x17, 16x20, 18x24, A3, A2), in both color styles.
- Lineage Research Worksheets, 15 fillable pages (Letter and A4): line of descent summary; generation proof checklist (birth, marriage, death and the link to the parent, for 14 generations); source citation log; patriot profile with notes on where Revolutionary War service and pension records are kept; patriot service research log; correspondence and record request tracker.
- 2 color styles: Parchment (warm cream and oxblood) and Colonial (ivory, navy and red).
- 9 sizes: 8x10, 8.5x11, 11x14, 11x17, 16x20, 18x24 inches, and A4, A3, A2.
- An example file and a Start Here guide.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Download and unzip.
2. Open Patriot_Line_of_Descent_Maker.html in your web browser (the Start Here guide shows how, step by step). Type the patriot, then each generation down to you.
3. Click Print / Save as PDF. Choose the same paper size and orientation, Margins: None, Scale: 100%. Print at home or send the PDF to any print shop.
Your entries save in your browser, and you can save them to a file to finish later. Nothing is uploaded, so your family's details stay on your computer.

GREAT FOR
A keepsake for a new lineage society member, a gift for a parent or grandparent who did the family research, a 250th anniversary display, a family reunion, or a framed record of a long research project.

GOOD TO KNOW
- This is our own design and a personal research aid. It is not an official form and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any lineage society. Every society sets its own rules, so always check the current requirements of the society you plan to apply to.
- The Maker is easiest on a laptop or desktop computer. One spouse per generation. Accented names are fine.
- The frame is not included. Colors vary slightly by printer and paper.

HOW THIS WAS MADE
Designed by Front Porch Puzzle Press. The chart layouts, the Line of Descent Maker, the blank charts and the research worksheets were built with custom code that I wrote with help from an AI coding assistant. No AI image generator was used. The notes about records on the worksheets were each checked against two published sources. The names in the photos belong to a made-up example family and a made-up patriot.
