Vintage Moonglow Cornflower Blue Bracelet

My new favorite blue! I was so happy when I found this fab shade of vintage Lucite Moonglow – cornflower blue. The color is so pretty I decided to use them exclusively in this monocolored bracelet.

This bracelet is a tiny bit chunkier than most of my vintage Lucite bracelets. Not heavy mind you, just slightly larger moonglow rounds. The moonglow is hand knotted on silk thread in the same lovely blue and finished with a simple sterling silver toggle clasp.

If you have spent any time in the shop then you know my fondness for lightweight adornments. This bracelet is another example of our lightweight and whimsical jewelry.

Lucite, introduced by DuPont in 1937, was cheaper to produce and therefore often replaced Bakelite for use in costume jewelry by the early 1940's. The 'moonglow' style of Lucite is very recognizable by the 'glow' that it has and is now considered quite collectible.

After years of collecting vintage Lucite I can attest to the growing scarcity of Moonglow in particular. Whenever I find a realistically priced stash my heart flutters. Totally geek moment I know.

The bracelet is 7 1/2" long. All findings are sterling silver.
