A unique andaluchic design inspired by the shape of a Sultan´s Turban, round and slightly squashed with a lovely ribbed design running through the hand blown glass.

Our oil lamps make for beautiful décor as well as an original gift. They make a dramatic centre piece for a table and work beautifully at Christmas, offering reflective, flickering low light. The lamp comes in three sizes (small, medium & large, please see dimensions below) as well as an array of jewel-like colours to choose from.

The oil lamp makes a stunning decorative and yet functional piece in the home and a spectacular centre piece for your table décor; a single lamp makes a beautiful focal point, but a cluster of lamps is something else altogether!

As well as giving light, light reflects off and through the glass as well...mesmerising.

Each lamp is hand blown with pyrex glass, the most durable glass on the market. It is then individually hand painted and set in the oven at 2500º.
The neck is hand painted in real silver paint, making a beautiful contrast with the main colour of the lamp as well as giving the piece a contemporary feel.

And we´ve thought of everything: each oil lamp comes with a hand blown sheath used to house the wick as well as a separate hand blown funnel, which is used to pour oil easily into the lamp.

The lamps come in 3 sizes:

Small (Metric): 8cm high x 9cm wide
Small (Imperial): 3 1/8” high x 3 ½” wide

Medium (Metric): 9cm high x 10cm wide
Medium (Imperial): 3” high x 4” wide

Large (Metric): 10cm high x 11cm wide
Large (Imperial): 4” high x 4 ½” wide

Each lamp comes with its own handblown clear glass funnel to easily pour oil into the lamp and also a clear glass sheath which is placed inside the hole at the top of the lamp and which houses the wick for lighting. It´s best to have only a very tiny segment of wick just sticking out of the top of the lamp for a clean, smokeless flame. The more wick, the more smokey the flame! It is not necessary to fill the lamp with oil to the top, just enough to ensure the wick is saturated enough to burn. Please allow enough time for the wick to absorb the oil before lighting. Available oils on the market come for either indoor or outdoor use, please buy the appropriate oil for your purpose, which can be bought in your local DIY/hardware/supermarket store.

HISTORY

The art of glass blowing was brought to Spain, and so to Europe, by Phoenicians, maritime traders who founded many of today´s Mediterranean and Atlantic cities and ports, including our nearest port, Cádiz, thought to be the oldest city in Western Europe. Whilst the Phoenicians´ aim was not to conquer or colonise Spain, they did leave, through their trade channels, a legacy of new goods, ideas and techniques across the whole of the Mediterranean, including the art of blown glass.
