When you see an old movie with a very efficient secretary to a very important man, she is probably wearing a dress like this.

This is a dress of impeccable quality and design from the 1930's/40's. It is a dress to be taken seriously in. No woman who wears this dress is a woman to be messed with.

Our Ms. efficient secretary would also have been able to take this from the office for a drink or dinner with a gentleman after office hours.

It is Black rayon crepe, with a satin bow and narrow panel on the left hand side. There is a button next to the panel about 2 inches from the waist line. There are threaded belt loops, but no belt. The button hole for the button is a tailor made button hole.
four inches down from the button, the panel opens up to a pleat and an overlap of an underskirt of the same fabric, for ease of sitting and crossing your legs while taking dictation or sipping a martini. There is also a kick pleat in the bottom back.
The bust is shaped by pleats that open up 3.5 inches from the shoulder.
There is a label, but I cannot make out the name..
There is a back zipper that continues down past the hips for easy in and out. No comment.

This is that wonderful heavy rayon crepe that has such a beautiful hand. The dress is in excellent condition, no wear, tear or mends.

16 inches shoulder to shoulder
42 inches across the bust
33 across the waist
42 across the hip.
From shoulder to waist: 16.5 inches
from waist to hem: 27 inches.
Bow: 3.5 inches

About a size 12 US

Now, this dress can be worn by the CEO herself, and be applauded for her efficiency. Sometimes change is good.
