I liked this traverse slouch beanie pattern alot. Easy to download. Easy step by step instructions. The only thing that I would mention is that I think the size of the hat really depends on how tight you knit. I knit very loose, and I tried making a large hat for my husbands 24"circumference head. The hat was 26" and he said it felt like, "it would slide on his eyes." Other than that I'm happy.
