Herringbone is a V-shaped zig zag pattern that is usually made from tweed/twill fabric: In this case, twill. The herringbone pattern dates back to the Roman Empire, where it was used in road paving systems, and in the textiles and jewelry of ancient Egyptian elite. Its name quite literally derives from the bones of a herring fish, which it closely resembles.

60" wide herringbone fabric in a 9 oz weight. 60" wide. 1/4" repeat. Appropriate for upholstery, apparel, drapery, bedding and many crafting pursuits. 100% preshrunk cotton. Slight sheen. Easy care - washer to dryer. Substantial hand with the feel of a heavy cotton sateen.

This particular fabric is ideal for many home decorating projects: Use it for drapery (lined or unlined), slipcovers (especially if you need to launder it frequently ... the weight is just right for good coverage/draping but not so heavy that your washing machine takes a beating), duvet covers, etc.. Perfect as well, for men's and women's suiting.

A client chose this fabric for a pair of historic styled trousers. The fabric was really nice to work with and has a great hand to it. It is well woven and high quality. The shipping time was reasonable. Overall I am very pleased with the entire transaction.
