Ceramics, one of humanity's earliest industrial pursuits, possesses inherent artistic qualities, evolving into an art form from its nascent stages. The diverse tribes and civilizations that once inhabited the lands now known as Bulgaria have bequeathed a rich cultural legacy. Over time, the region has amassed an array of ceramics reflecting the influences of Thracians, Romans, Slavs, and Proto-Bulgarians. The proximity to the Mediterranean, with its vibrant culture, further shaped the trajectory of Bulgarian crafts.
At DankoHandmade, we honor tradition by reinterpreting it in a contemporary light. Each product line boasts its distinctive style and character, yet all carry the essence of comfort and warmth derived from the Bulgarian soil.

GLAZING:
Following the bisque firing, the intricate glazing process commences. The glaze, a fusion of ground glass, clays, coloring agents, and water, is meticulously applied to the bisque pot through dipping, pouring, spraying, brushing, sponging, or a combination of these techniques. The footring of each piece is kept free of glaze, and the pot is positioned on a bisque-fired 'cookie' crafted from stoneware clay. The stage is set for the final glaze firing.
