Highlights
This portrait of my mother is a hand-pulled, limited edition, 7-color reduction print. My mom was born in 1929, and my Grandmother painstakingly coifed her hair in the style of Shirley Temple.
Linocut reduction prints are made by printing a series of colors multiple times from a single block. Each color is added by performing a sequence of carving, inking, printing, and drying. As the process evolves and the layers of colors build up, the block is “reduced”, leaving only the last color. This means it’s impossible to go back and make more prints.
I learned to do this by reading a library book. Support your local library!
The print measures 12"x11", and will be shipped in a rigid envelope.
