This spun silk embroidery yarn is soft and lustrous, and made from 100% Ahimsa peace silk.
The indigo dye was achieved through a Bran-Madder natural fermentation vat -- the traditional indigo fermentation method of Old Europe. The indigo was sourced from the longest continuously operational indigo farm in India.
"Peace silk" is silk made from cocoons from which the moth has freely emerged, allowing it to complete its natural life cycle! It is also known as "vegetarian silk" or "vegan silk", because its production does not kill the silkworm.
The thread is made from bombyx mori cultivated silk, raised and spun on small family farms in southern India. Your purchase of this thread supports the traditional silk-raising practices of these villages!
