Are your wax seals authentic antiques?

Yes, completely. The seals I use to create my wax seal jewelry date to approximately the 1700s–1800s and are sourced from private collections, European antique dealers, and estate sales. Each one was originally used to seal correspondence or personal documents — pressed into warm wax as a signature or mark of identity. I select every seal individually for the quality of its imagery, its condition, and its history. None of my pieces are digitally created.

What makes your wax seal jewelry different from other wax seal shops?

Every Shannon Westmeyer piece is cast directly from an authentic antique wax seal — a real object that dates to the 1700s or 1800s, not a modern reproduction or a design generated in software. I cast each seal in-house in my own studio in Ohio using the lost-wax method, which means the sterling silver piece you receive holds the exact surface texture of the original antique seal. Many shops sell wax seal–style jewelry created from digital files or newly made reproductions. This is not that. The history is not a theme — it is the material.

Do you offer gift wrapping or gift-ready packaging?

Every order ships in gift-ready packaging — no request or upgrade needed. Whether you are buying for a birthday, anniversary, graduation, Mother's Day, or for yourself, it arrives packaged beautifully. Every order also includes a meaning card explaining the history and symbolism of the seal, so the recipient understands the full story behind the piece. There is nothing else you need to do to make it a complete gift.

What is your return and exchange policy?

We want you to love what you receive. If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order to make arrangements for a return or exchange. 1. Non-personalized pieces may be exchanged within 7 days of delivery in unworn condition in the original packaging. 2. Include full name and order number along with any tracking information for the shipment 3. Personalized and engraved pieces cannot be exchanged or returned. We do not reimburse for return shipping fees. Exchanges incur additional shipping charges.

What materials do you use?

All jewelry is cast in sterling silver from authentic antique wax seals. Sterling silver (92.5% pure silver) is the standard for fine jewelry — it is durable, hypoallergenic for most wearers, and develops a warm patina over time that suits the antique character of these pieces well. Some pieces are also available in gold vermeil or other finishes — check individual listings for current material options. The seal itself, the imagery, and the casting are always genuine regardless of metal finish.

When will my order ship?

Orders ship within 3–5 business days from Troy, Ohio. You'll be able to track your order through Etsy once it leaves our studio. If you need your order by a specific date, please message me before purchasing and I will confirm whether the timeline works. We do our best to accommodate need by dates. I do not rush-charge for standard timelines — 3–5 business days is the regular pace.

How does complimentary engraving work? What can I engrave?

Engraving is always complimentary — there is no additional charge, ever. You can engrave initials, a date, a short name, or a meaningful word on the back of a pendant or charm. Simply include your engraving text in the "Note to seller" field at checkout, and I'll take it from there. This is one of the things that makes antique wax seal jewelry such a strong personalized gift: the front carries centuries-old imagery, and the back carries something entirely your own. 1. Does engraving add to my processing or ship time?

No. Complimentary engraving is built into my standard production process and does not extend your ship time. All orders — engraved or not — ship within 3–5 business days from Troy, Ohio.
