Nice stand, but I specifically requested that it be sanded very smooth before painting. The wood grain shows; there is wood color bleed coming through the paint because it wasn't primed first; finish shows grooved brush strokes rather than being smooth.

Nancy, hello. Thank you for your feedback. I have been making cake stands for many years and before painting wooden stands I always polish them. Then I paint the stands, the structure of the wood is always visible on the wooden things. Buyers who choose wooden cake stands expect that the cake stand will look like a stand made of wood. There are special paint shops that can paint a piece of wood so that it looks perfectly smooth like glass or plastic.
