This dress features the same flattering shape as our popular solstic tunic--fitted at the bust, flaring out at the high waist, so it doesn't cling to bellies and hips. This dress has a mini cowl neckline and a knee length hemline. Wear it on it's own in the summer, and layer it up with leggings and a cardigan for the winter. Versatile and comfortable, you'll find you want one in every colour. Hem is left raw for added texture (it will not fray, and seams are secure). Dress measures approximately 38" (96 cm) from shoulder to hem.

Fabric:
Hemp/organic cotton light-medium weight knit. This fabric has a slight nubbly texture, is super durable and long lasting, gets softer with wear, and is machine washable and dryable. Please note, though the fabric is machine washable and dryable (and the dress is pre-shrunk), all clothing will last longer if it is hung to dry, rather than put in the dryer, as much as possible.
Colour:
Available in six hand dyed colours (plum, lichen, navy, chocolate, clay and cardinal), two mill dyed colours (black and grey). Hand dyed colours may have slight variations from batch to batch. This is part of the beauty and uniqueness of the garment. Please note, every computer monitor shows colour slightly differently. Shown in navy.
A note about hand dying: Hand dying is both art and science. Though I strive for consistency between batches, there are many variables invovled, and any and all of them can slightly change the results. The roll of fabric, the batch of dye, the water (this is a big one! Water is not a stagnant thing; it changes. And small changes in water can affect how the dye reacts with the fabric). Even--and perhaps especially--the human doing the dying. (I am not a machine!) All of these things can change the results from batch to batch. What does this mean? In a nutshell, colours may have slight variations between batches. Sometimes colours come out slightly darker or lighter. Sometimes the colour is perfectly smooth and even, sometimes it's more mottled and uneven. These are not flaws. This is part of what makes hand dyed garments beautiful and special. If absolute consistency is paramount to you, you'll be better off sticking with one of the mill dyed colours (black, grey, teal). But if you enjoy embracing the inexact and slightly whimsical nature of hand dying, choose one of the hand dyed colours!
Sizing:
The Solstice Dress is meant to be fitted at the bust, and loose and flowing over the belly and hips. ****Please order based on your BUST size.**** This is a great style for women whose bust is a size smaller than their hips. If your hips are more than one size larger than your bust, you might find it snugger around your belly/hips. PLEASE NOTE--due to the cap sleeve style, if you order a size larger than your bust size, you will probably end up with gaping at the armpits--never a great look. If you love this dress, but want a looser fit at the bust, I recommend going for short, elbow, 3/4 or long sleeves.
