This ceramic art bowl was inspired by the imagery on the Yaya Mama Stele, a monument from Taraco, Peru, on the north end of Lake Titicaca 800 BC - 300 AD. First I hand formed the bowl, leaving the edges unfinished and natural. The overall organic shape and the washed out color give this bowl the character of being an old, worn artifact, which is what it was inspired by. I used a white mid-range firing clay and after bisque firing, I added the decoration with a red iron oxide wash. The design is my interpretation of details from the stele. The interior of the bowl is covered with a food safe glaze. The size of this bowl is about 7.5 inches in diameter and about 1 inch tall.

This bowl could be used to hold your cell phone, keys, jewelry, candy, or just for decoration.
