📏SIZING YOUR BIND: I have used a bind through my 6 postpartum periods, countless doula clients that I’ve served over 10 years, and have sold over 20,000 binds worldwide. There is a reason why my standard size is 17 yards long*. It is a necessary length to ensure that your bind will work for you from the moment you give birth until you stop using it. Having bound hundreds of women myself, I came to my standard size based on the average sizing of women up to US size 16/18 pre-pregnancy (nobody knows their pregnancy size ;) ). A bind that is too short will not only be extremely uncomfortable (as it will migrate), but you simply won’t gain the benefits. Gratuitous overlapping and spanning the length of your core, hips and up, is necessary for the Bengkung to work its magic. Since I can’t size everyone in person myself, I had to establish a standard size that I could rely on to fit my customers up to a certain US size, *regardless of body shape*, as there are many factors that come into play. I was a size 0-2 pre-pregnancy with all of my pregnancies and I used close to the full length, binding from my hips to under my breasts, and overlapping properly. I'm also close to 6’ tall and hold my babies out in front of me… so my use of the bind would be similar to another woman who is 5’5” and size 14. We are all built differently, and having a bind that is too short will not only be a waste of your money but also a frustrating experience. It is always better to err on the side of too long rather than useless. My job is to make sure you are pleased with your purchase and that it WORKS for you! 1. Raw edges without stitching - Raw edges with a slight fray. They are pre-washed but a few stray threads may appear when washed and dried again - these are easily cut or pulled off, not to worry! No need to wash these often anyway as I recommend wearing over a shirt or tank. I absolutely love the look of the raw edges and I don't think it's necessary to reinforce them with stitching.

2. Serged Edges - I reinforce the edge with a lovely serged hem to keep the edge from fraying with continuous washing & drying. You can see this option in the last image.

To use: Rub a thin layer all over your postpartum belly prior to binding, after a bath or shower, or whenever your belly feels it needs the attention and care.

*Please note: Due to shipping conditions out of my control in the hot, summer months, the mixture can melt and change consistency (this does not alter the efficacy of the product). This balm melts at body temperature, and sometimes melts in transit and the spices are settling to the bottom of the jar. This is an unavoidable occurrence that is easily remedied by remelting the balm (either by setting it out in the sun or or putting in a bowl of hot water but please make sure the jar is firmly closed). Once the balm is melted you can give it a few shakes and then place in the refrigerator to solidify with the spices mixed throughout. 

For sensitive skin, please try a patch test first.

With either option, I recommend line drying your bind as this much fabric turns into a knotty mess in the dryer. No need to wash these often anyway, especially if you wear them over a tank or shirt.

* Please note that cotton does shrink with each washing. As we do our very best to account for this issue, each roll of natural cotton fabric can shrink at different rates both in width & length. Our measurements are thus approximate due to the somewhat inconsistent shrinkage rate & the necessity to cut the binds prior to the washing process.
