Custom Ladies Prairie Dress Set

This set includes our ladies prairie dress along with a long half apron and a prairie bonnet. The dress has a slightly raised waist with front and back tucks for gentle shaping. It buttons down the front and the bodice can be finished without a collar, a round collar or a pointed collar. You may also have long sleeves finished with a small elastic ruffle or elbow length sleeves finished with a small cuff. You will see the links below for choosing the fabric for your dress. The apron can be in a classic cream or white (depending on which looks best with your fabric) or it can be done in a coordinating color from our coordinating collection of fabrics. Please be sure to pick a fabric for your dress and we can work out the fabric for your apron and bonnet by message as needed. The skirt portion on this dress is long and full, with the full length of the dress being about 50" from the top of the shoulder to the hem. The apron is like the half aprons that ladies made for themselves in the 1800's. It wraps all the way around the sides some where you can then tie it in a knot or bow. This protected the whole bottom of a dress while working. The prairie bonnet is a simple summer staple and great for both reenactments and for keeping the sun off your head in the garden. If you would like long sleeves tapered with a simple hem or long sleeves with a slip over cuff, there is no extra charge. Please leave me a note when you check out and I will contact you after purchasing for an underarm to end of arm length measurement.

I need a few things from you when you check out.
1. Your fabric choice in both number and description (ex. C102-B, blue floral)
2. Your bust measurement (measure over your bra around the largest part of your chest)
3. Your waist measurement (measure the smallest part of your waist)
4. How you would like your dress to fit--a bit fitted or modest and loose

Our dresses can be made for bust measurements of 30"-46" and waist measurements of 22"-40". Here's the basic sizing but please give us your measurements.

A custom order is any garment where you choose the size and fabric and I then make it up for you. Check the ship date for the shops present turnaround time. Please always check the shipping date before placing your order as I do not process cancellations. If you require a custom item sooner, add your item to the cart and take note of the price. Go to the last section of the shop called "Rush orders" and use the appropriate listing there in order to receive your order by the date you need it. Availability of rush orders is dependent on my ability to get them done in the promised time. If you don’t see availability it’s simply because my time is all booked up.

Most of the listings include a size chart. If you need any help with sizing simply send me a message and I'll be happy to help you out. For a child give me age, chest and waist measurement. For an adult give bust and waist measurement. Pattern sizing can be quite different from store sizing, especially in adult sizes. It's always better to check if you are unsure.

Please be sure that you can commit to your purchase before you place your order and be sure to check your ship date before checking out. It is my desire to provide clothing at a very reasonable cost. The cost you pay is based on the cost of materials and labor. I do not charge customers for my initial design time, my site work time, overhead or any administration. This allows me to keep my prices lower than many other fabric artists. It also means that I do not cancel orders. As a one-woman shop, staying open would simply not be viable if I were to do so. In order to keep prices as reasonable as possible for everyone, I do not accept returns on ready to ship garments or custom made garments. Please ask questions before purchasing to be sure that the item will meet your needs. Please measure carefully. I always recommend purchasing one of any given made to order style before buying multiples so that together we know that the style and fit is right before doing more.

I understand that there is a risk in ordering custom made as you cannot try on before purchasing. As one who designs and sews for others all day, I truly enjoy supporting other shops and purchase clothing for myself here on Etsy. While not everything is perfect I enjoy the adventure of having something made just for me.

Pockets are an add on option because there are a good percentage of customers who simply do not like them. This way I don't need to automatically charge any of you for pockets you don't want. Almost all of my dresses and skirts can have added pockets. Please see the last section of the store named RUSH ORDERS AND ADD ONS in order to add pockets to your garments. The listing adds 2 pockets, one on each side.

This dress is perfect. I am a spinner and have started demonstrating at some historical locations that prefer period dress. This dress fit the bill! I got the whole set with dress, apron and bonnet. Love the bonnet, just wasn't wearing it in the picture because it was hot that day! Communication was quick and accurate. She helped me pick out reproduction fabric. I trusted her to pick the apron/bonnet fabric to match and it looks great. It was a little big in the shoulders. Other than that, fit was great. I think she did a great job making this dress sight unseen and based only on the measurements I sent her. I did send it back to her and she adjusted the shoulders for me and now it fits perfect. I did pay shipping for this. Turn around time for the adjustment was VERY fast! Would highly recommend!

Incredible! Gracefulthreads did an amazing job with this fully custom ensemble. She really took the time to communicate with me and help figure out my likes and intentions with the dress. She offered helpful suggestions on the colors and fabrics. She even added pockets on the apron per request. Being tall, clothes never fit. This piece was made to my specific measurements and feels wonderful. I am so pleased with this, and thrilled to call it my own!
