We offer two different styles of wood. Modern Rustic Alder and Contemporary Rustic Alder

First Photo in Listing:
Modern/Rustic: Slightly more rustic than our contemporary. The wood has uniform saw marks, knots, cracks and other great characteristics which are accentuated by the stain you choose.

Second Photo in Listing:
Contemporary/Rustic: Knots, cracks and a beautiful wood grain that pops once stained. They are smooth to the touch when finished.

In the personalization box please specify the wood style (Modern Rustic or Contemporary Rustic) along with color that you'd like to see.

Please keep in mind that every piece of wood takes stain slightly different. Samples are to give you frame of reference, but the actual piece you purchase could be lighter or darker depending on the characteristics of the wood.

Lighter stain options such as our Weathered Oak Stain and Natural Stain have a higher possibility of stain variation. We can not control how each piece of wood takes stain. If ordering samples, we also highly recommend looking through our other shop listings and customer reviews to find more examples of the stains you're interested in to see different examples.

The main difference between Modern Rustic and Contemporary Rustic is the Modern Rustic has uniform saw marks in the wood giving it more texture and often taking on the stain color slightly darker.

Contemporary on the other hand does not have saw marks and has a smoother finish.

Both styles will have rustic characteristics such as knots, cracks and varying wood grain patterns.
