Custom - Fabric Camping Schultüte

Handmade, heirloom quality, Back to School Cones (Schultueten) or Sugar Cone (Zuckertueten) from fabric. These are a traditional style German kid’s bag that can be re-purposed for toy storage or a pillow after the First Day of School. This Schultuete is ready to ship - made in the US, ships to the US, USPS Priority Mail is already included in the listing price. All Schultueten can be personalized with a hand embroidered name.

This listing is for the Tenting theme bag shown in the first four images. The fabric is 100% cotton, with:
- blue patterned exterior
- orange tent (24" size usually includes a second green tent)
- yellow moon
- fire pit
- 3 light blue stars
- patterned fabric at drawstring
- a patterned lining
**optional additions by request** - switch the tent for a camper, add string lights, add a tree/leaves, etc.

The pictoral elements (tent, stars, moon, fire) include unfinished fabric edges and multiple stitch lines as an intentional part of the design. The bag itself has all edges finished. THIS LISTING IS MADE TO ORDER and as such, the fabric patterns may vary slightly depending on availability. I have tried to depict the range of variation in these photos. If there it an variation that you particularly do or do not want, please let me know!

PERSONALIZATION:
Please see examples of personalization with hand embroidery or initials. If you would like to personalize, please let me know what you would like it to say, as well as what color. Generally, personalization is limited to about 10 characters if hand-embroidered. I can also add a large initial as shown.

FINISHING / SHIPPING OPTIONS / DELIVERY:
You can upgrade the finishing / shipping option during Etsy's check out process. When you reach the page titled "Checkout," choose to review the WyseWorks item. This "Review" will allow you to change the "Delivery." Here are the available options:

1. (Default) Fabric cone ships folded in Priority Mail envelope. To stiffen the cone, there are instructions for adding a temporary poster board insert. Poster board will need to be purchased separately by the customer to make the insert. This is the most cost-effective finishing option. Etsy will automatically give you this option as you are checking out.
2. (+$15) Upgraded: Fabric cone plus a poster board board insert ships in a tube. The temporary poster board insert will need to be inserted into the cone. This option increases the cost of shipping by $15. Look for this option while checking out.
3. (+ $60) Upgraded: Fabric cone plus a poster board insert, plus a custom pillow; ships in a large box. Both the temporary poster board insert and the pillow will be shipped in the fabric cone. Remove either or both to use in any combination. This option increases the cost of shipping by $60. Look for this option while checking out.

CARE:
Machine wash and dry with like colors. Remove poster board insert.

BACKGROUND:
Schultüten, Zuckertüten, or back to school cones - are given to students on their first day of school in many European countries. Traditionally filled with candy, school cones are meant to "sweeten" the start of school. We like to fill ours with school supplies instead of candy. For the video, I filled this cone with Duplos. Afterwards, we hang the bag in the bedroom and use it as storage and decoration.

I began making these fabric Schultüten for my American-German kiddos in 2011. Finding ready-to-buy Schultüten in the US wasn't possible. I decided to make them myself. I didn't want to waste time, money, and materials on a disposal, single-use item. So I upgraded the traditional paper construction to fabric. Over the years I’ve tried to explore classic childhood themes while blending a bit of American folk art into the design. Every Schultuete is unique and one of a kind, unless specifically requested otherwise. I buy high quality quilting fabrics in small batches and usually make a few experimental versions of a theme before I get tired of it and try something new. That said, many of my favorite Schultueten were generated by specific customer request, so please don’t hesitate to reach out about your own ideas.
