VINTAGE IRISH SETTER DOG PRINT
ART BY EDWIN MEGARGEE

Lovely vintage Irish setter print which was carefully removed from a book about dogs. This is the actual 1953 book page, not a reproduction. It measures 8 by 11 inches and is in very good condition. The print extends to the edges of the page, there is no border and there is text on the reverse side.

Edwin Megargee is best known for his portraits of purebred dogs. His animal portraits truly showcase each animal’s personality. In the tradition of the pure-bred dog portrait, his dogs are typically posed to show off how they conform to the breed standard.
Megargee also painted horses, cattle and cock-fighting scenes. The running greyhound logo for the Greyhound Bus Co. was designed by him. Several of his game-shooting scenes appeared in "Field & Stream" throughout the 1940s-50s.
