My only problem with this item was that the directions seemed too difficult for a 9-year-old. Even for an adult, they were not clearly written and organized.

We used this kit for my son’s 9th birthday. The clues themselves and the setup instructions were excellent. However, the hiding places for some of the clues was too obvious - under a table and under the treasure chest. A lot of the boys in our group found clues just by searching the room, and this ruined the game - the rest of the crew got frustrated when they had spent time solving a clue only to realize the subsequent clue was already found. I realize some of this is on us and we could have tried harder to hide the clues, but obviously we can’t change the location (under the table). In addition, someone shook the treasure chest and the clue inside actually fell out, through the slots in the wood. I can’t tell you how mad they were when they finally found the key to open it and realized it was empty!
