Instead of wasting your time, give your item a nice vigorous shake, and most of the debris stuck to it will come off :) If you accidentally spill something like coffee or wine on it, run that area under slightly warm water. Once the stain has been rinsed out, give it a gentle squeeze. Afterward, place the item on a surface with good airflow, and make sure to flip it periodically until it dries. For rugs, you can use a vacuum cleaner. If the item becomes heavily soiled, please take it to a dry cleaner.

To make one medium sized blanket or rug we had to work long and hard. I use only natural wool from sheep that were raised in the high Carpathian mountain pastures, and natural dyes.
At first, you have to wash and dry the wool thoroughly, then comb it with a special tool, which makes the wool puff up and resemble a cloud.
The combed wool is easily manipulated and made into threads, which are then used to make a lizhnyk on a loom (handmade looms are mostly used in the mountains).
The woven product is then placed in a special device – called ‘valylo’, a huge wooden barrel, narrowed down to the bottom.
Water is then piped in with great force. The flow of water rapidly rises, creating a whirlpool in which the blankets spin for hours.
After this process, lizhnyks become tight and fluffy.
