A really nice Bjørn Wiinblad poster with strong contrasts and vibrant colors.

The poster was made to promote the annual Christmas seal ("Julemærke" in Danish). The seal was invented in Denmark in 1904 raise funds for children with tuberculosis. Today the seal raises money for "julemærkehjem" (Christmas seal homes) which are places around in Denmark where children with challenges such as overweight or bullying can live for a few month. In these homes the kids have a safe haven and it is my impression that many children feel a lot better after their stay.

Overall this charity poster displays the period in Wiinblad's career where is was most colorful and paid great attention to details. Notice how many different colors and textures the poster has - it must have taken quite some time to finish the poster. I am quite sure that a character as Wiinblad possibly made the poster for free to support the children.

The craft of Wiinblad is often colorful, lush and full of humor. He was inspired by the sumptuous oriental style far from the Nordic stylish line. This artwork is differently true to his special line.

The views on his works are to this day very divided, but interest in his finer things are unrelenting - especially abroad (particularly the U.S., Japan, Germany and Norway). Bjørn Wiinblad's contemporaries were not exactly inclined to acknowledge his way to work, so his position as an artist has been a bit special.

Globally, Bjørn Wiinblad is one of the very best selling Danish artists. He is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

“Great experience. Our first delivery had damage due to uncareful / rushed postal workers - the poster did travel from Denmark all the way to Canada. The tube it shipped in was sturdy, but it looks like something heavy was dropped on it. I reached out to OpenCopenhagen and they were FANTASTIC. I had ordered 2 posters, one of which hey had a duplicate, the other not, they worked with me to find an alternative that worked, and reshipped new ones within a week. The new ones are perfect and will make a great addition. The customer service was exceptional, the products are great - and I will definitely be ordering from here again !”

Great experience. Our first delivery had damage due to uncareful / rushed postal workers - the poster did travel from Denmark all the way to Canada. The tube it shipped in was sturdy, but it looks like something heavy was dropped on it. I reached out to OpenCopenhagen and they were FANTASTIC.
