Highlights
Single treadle crank for single treadle Traditional wheels.
Double Treadle (DT) cranks for some Ashford wheels. There may be some variation in styles over the years. Also, we're not sure how you get the back conrod around the bend in the crank. But we got a few of these in stock so we are offering them for those that would like to give it a try.
The metal shaft that goes holds the wheel onto the uprights, and attaches to the con rod.
7" long, made of black coated metal. This crank has two holes, so it works with both old style and new style single drive traditional wheels. You need to select the right crank for the style of conrod you will be using with the wheel.
Type 1 crank. This is the crank for most Traditional wheels. If your wooden conrod attaches to the wheel with a clear rubber or leather joint, pick Type 1 crank. (If your crank is under 7" long, the new style crank will not work on your wheel without the Clunky wheel kit).
If you have the newest style conrod, that attaches to the wheel with a black rubber toggle shaped joint, you need Type 2 crank.
Note, if you have a VERY old wheel, you need a whole new crank/conrod set up. Ashford no longer makes a crank to replace the oldest style, since it was an inferior design. We offer the Clunky Wheel Kit to fix up a VERY old wheel (see last picture for one option of what the old crank looks like).
