Parisian Pomade
Original Recipe
1825
Medium Hard Pomade
1 oz glass amber jar
Fresh Scent

We are excited to bring you this yummy-clean-smelling original recipe pomade. This is a medium-hard pomade, but we have put it into a soft pomade jar instead of the tins because it isn't as hard as the hard pomades. This pomatum smells amazing. It's a really fresh, clean scent with hints of citrus and apple. I personally don't think it's flowery.

This Pomade specifically says it improves gloss and luxuriousness. Think Shiny, Healthy Hair with a bit of hold!

We have also used an original Regency label. If you aren't familiar with pomades, let's go over them.

Hard Pomade- Hard pomatum tends to be my favorite - because I have fine hair so I need extra hold from my pomade. Hard pomades have beeswax in and are used historically for styling the hair ( hairdressing). Many manuals talk about using hard pomades when dressing the hair and soft pomades when applying powder. That said, I prefer hard pomade when applying my powder ( personal preference) because my hair is so fine.

Soft Pomade is excellent for dry hair as a moisturizer. It does not contain beeswax. Beauty manuals usually suggest using soft pomade for your initial pomade and powdering in the 18th century. Then, the upkeep and styling are done with hard pomade and re-powdering. Remember to brush your powder out as you are working with historical pomade and powder. This changed in the Regency period, but you can still use this pomade for 18th century styles, it would be nest used for fine hair, or for styling the hair because this specific pomade does have beeswax in the formula.

1825 Pomade- if you are using this in the "regency" period- Powder isn't used in the amounts it was in the 18th century, if at all. A few people still use pomade and powder, but mostly for dry shampoo and to manage extra oil. It would not be noticeable in the hair-colored hair powder if it were used with your pomade. By this time- Pomades like this were meant to promote shine and luxuriousness and help keep curls in. If you think about the unique styles in this period, this pomatum will be awesome for curls and getting that shine when you work the hair into popular styles like the Apollo Knot.

Our New Parisian Pomade: This isn't super hard, like the ones in the tins. But it does have beeswax in it, unlike the other glass pomade jars. We put this pomade into the soft pomatum jar. So this is a good medium-hold pomade, and if you aren't sure which to get, a hard or soft pomade, this is a great one to start out with. This will be great for ringlets!!
