I craft this Halloween cutout in my toy-making shop, using traditional woodworking tools and solid wood. Every piece is hand-sanded and prepped for painting. Unlike many others, this cutout is sturdy and freestanding, making it a great pretend toy. It can be easily placed on window sills, door frames, shelves, or narrow ledges. I recommend backlighting it with LED tea lights for a spooky effect.

Unlike thin plywood pieces cut by CNC lasers and computers that have burnt edges, this cutout is individually hand-cut from solid wood and stands freely on its own.

I created this cutout style for my grandson, Odin, who is a big Halloween fan. It makes an excellent Halloween decoration, but it is also a toy for Odin. He uses it as a frightening inhabitant in his haunted-house structures, which he builds from blocks.
