Gerd Hiort Petersen for Danish pottery factory Soholm, Bornholm. Very nice wall plaque with blue glazed stylized flower as the motif. Modernist stoneware from the 1970s. The wall hanging is in mint condition and is signed Soholm, Bornholm, Denmark and "Stentoj" meaning stoneware in Danish.

Gerd Hiort Petersen's art embraces many facets of the pottery's soul and is an exponent of modern ceramic art. She is represented at a number of museums in Denmark and abroad, and she has performed several decorative tasks. Gerd Hiort Petersen has received many good honors in legacy, including the National Bank's Jubilee Fund, the Arts and Crafts Council, the State Art Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and the Augustine Foundation. She is also a member of the International Academy of Ceramics.
Gerd Hiort Petersen was born in 1937 and became an apprentice in 1954 at Michael Andersen's ceramics factory in Ronne, where she was Denmark's first female pottery apprentice. Since then she joined the Academy of Ancient Art in Vienna and the Arts and Crafts School in Copenhagen. Occasionally she worked at Soholm Ceramics Factory and the Royal Porcelain Factory (Royal Copenhagen).
